## Next door to Ferns

Ferns sits right on the Wicklow border, so Carnew, Shillelagh and Tinahely are closer to us than a lot of Wexford is. Arklow is a straight run up the N11.

## Coast and hills

Wicklow gardens are a mix. Along the coast at Arklow and Wicklow town there's wind and salt, and plenty of newer estates with small back gardens. Where there's no side access, the soil and stone go in and out by barrow through the house. That takes a bit longer, so mention it when you send photos. Inland, around Aughrim, Rathdrum and Tinahely, sites are often bigger and wetter, and some are on a slope. A slope or wet ground just means more care with the stone base and the fall, so the water runs off where it should.

## Holiday homes and rentals

If you've a holiday house or a rental in the county, artificial grass means nobody has to cut the lawn between visits. It looks the same the day you arrive as the day you left.

## Questions
### Do you cover all of Co. Wicklow?

South and mid Wicklow, from Carnew and Arklow up to Wicklow town and Rathdrum, is our usual patch. For Greystones, Bray or west Wicklow, give John a ring and ask.

### Is artificial grass a good idea for a garden near the sea in Arklow?

It is. Salt air and wind don't bother it, and sandy ground drains well under it. Where a real lawn by the coast goes brown and thin, artificial grass stays green.
